How 100 Tonnes of Illegal Sand Led to a Big Bust in Khammam

HYDERABAD: Police registered a case on Saturday after Vigilance and Enforcement officials seized three tipper trucks carrying around 100 metric tonnes of sand near Narayanapuram in Sathupalli mandal, under Khammam district.
Officials said the sand was being transported illegally. They estimated its value at about ₹92,000.
Police named eight persons in the FIR. Dodda Srinivasa Rao, who claimed links to a Congress MLA from Khammam district, is among the accused. His wife, Dodda Dhanalakshmi, and son, Dodda Praveen, also face charges.
According to police, the group transported and sold sand without valid permits.
Kota Krishna, Shaik Firoz, and Podili Narasimharao are listed as Accused Nos. 1, 2, and 3. Dodda Dhanalakshmi is Accused No. 4, Bollen Rohith No. 5, and Boppana Nandini No. 6. Dodda Srinivasa Rao and Dodda Praveen are Accused Nos. 7 and 8.
Police booked the accused under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). They also invoked the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act.
