IFS promotions approved: UPSC clears Telangana forest officers for 2020–2023 select lists

Hyderabad : The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has approved select lists for promotion of Telangana State Forest Service officers to the Indian Forest Service (IFS) for the years 2020 to 2023.

The approval, granted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), comes under Regulation 7(3) of the Indian Forest Service (Appointment by Promotion) Regulations, 1966.

The lists include officers selected against promotion quota vacancies in the Telangana cadre of the IFS.

Select lists include officers across four years

For Select List 2020, II. Prakash and G. Mukund Reddy have been named.

For Select List 2021, the list includes I. Prakash, A. Narasimha Reddy and D. Samhita.

For Select List 2022, the officers named are I. Prakash, M. Joji, G.B. Rekha Banu and Ch. Ganga Reddy.

For Select List 2023, I. Prakash and S. Rajasekhar have been included.

Inclusion of officer subject to pending clearances

The inclusion of I. Prakash in all four select lists is provisional. The order stated that his promotion is subject to clearance in pending disciplinary and criminal proceedings, along with the grant of an integrity certificate by the Telangana government.

His name has also been included under provisions of Regulation 5(4) of the 1966 regulations in subsequent lists.

State asked to complete promotion formalities

The Centre has directed the Telangana government to inform the officers and submit proposals for their promotion to the IFS.

The state must provide key documents, including declarations on marital status, consent for termination of lien in the State Forest Service, and certificates confirming absence of court stays or pending vigilance cases.

It must also certify that the officers are currently in service.

The order was issued on April 16, 2026, by Under Secretary Prem Prakash Maurya.
