IDL Road terminal stretch shut for a week due to sewer repair, traffic diverted

HYDERABAD: The terminal stretch of IDL Road between Kaithalapur and Kukatpally Main Road has been closed for seven days from January 31, 2026, due to road repair works following damage to a trunk sewer line, the Cyberabad Traffic Police said.
Road closure on Madhapur–Kukatpally stretch
The closure applies round the clock to vehicles travelling from Madhapur/Kaithalapur towards Kukatpally Y-Junction via IDL Lake Road. The stretch will remain completely shut for a week to facilitate repairs.
Diversions announced for commuters
Traffic police have notified two diversion routes. Vehicles from Madhapur can proceed via Yashoda Hospital Road Over Bridge, JNTU, take a left turn, make a U-turn and reach Kukatpally Y-Junction. Alternatively, commuters can travel from Yashoda Hospital towards Kaithalapur, Rainbow Vista, go straight towards Moosapet, take a left turn and reach the junction.

Police urge advance planning
Commuters have been advised to plan travel in advance, follow diversion signage and cooperate with traffic personnel to ensure smoother movement during the repair period.
