Hydraa Workers Attacked At Gopanpally Tanda

HYDERABAD: A group of truck drivers and a Hitachi excavator operator engaged by HYDRAA for the Nallagandla Cheruvu development project were assaulted with stones and clumps of mud at a designated dumping site beneath the Gopanpally Tanda flyover. Police said that one suspect was apprehended at the scene.

According to the Chandanagar police, the complainant Kammari Yadagiri Chary, a 35-year-old driver said he had been engaged as a truck driver with HYDRAA for the Nallagandla Cheruvu project for the past month.

As part of his job, the complainant and lorry drivers Nakkakolam, Ajith Kumar, and Dasari Suresh were transporting mud from Nallagandla Cheruvu and dumping it at the spot under the Gopanpally Tanda flyover.

On September 28, 2026, at about 9 pm, the complainant and the other drivers loaded their trucks with earth and transported it to the dumping site. At around 11:30 pm, a group of individuals arrived and used abusive language, questioning the drivers about dumping activities at the site.

When the complainant requested the individuals to speak with his supervisor, they refused to listen and instead assaulted the drivers with stones and clumps of earth. They also damaged the windshields of all the trucks and caused injuries to the drivers.

The group also attacked Sunil Kumar Mehta, the Hitachi excavator operator, with stones. They knocked him down, trampled him, and inflicted a serious injury to his left eye and injuries to his back. When the workers called their supervisor, he arrived at the scene, causing the assailants to flee.

One of the accused, identified as Suman, a resident of Gopanpally Tanda, was apprehended at the scene. The complainant requested that the police initiate legal proceedings against Suman and the other individuals for obstructing their work, assaulting them, causing injuries with stones, using abusive language, issuing threats, and damaging the windshields of the trucks.

Chandanagar Police Station registered a case based on the complaint, and further investigation is underway.
