HYDRAA transforms Uppal’s Nalla Cheruvu

HYDERABAD: Nalla Cheruvu in Uppal, once associated with stench and sludge, has undergone a transformation following restoration work taken up by the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA).
The agency took up the work with the aim of restoring the lake and developing the area around it.
Desilting, bund works completed before monsoon
HYDRAA completed the works within months. Desilting and construction of bunds were completed before the monsoon.
Rainfall subsequently brought fresh inflows into the restored lake. With the water spread expanding, Nalla Cheruvu now resembles a freshwater reservoir.
HYDRAA releases drone footage of restored lake
The transformation marks a change from the lake’s earlier condition, when it was associated with sludge and foul smell.
HYDRAA officials captured drone footage showing the restored lake filled with rainwater and released the visuals to the media.
