HYDRAA to intensify crackdown on lake encroachments
Hyderabad: Continuing its focus on urban lakes, Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has stepped up its efforts to tackle illegal encroachments on water bodies in Hyderabad.
On Wednesday, HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath conducted field inspections across multiple locations in the city. He listened to the issues and suggestions of locals and addressed residents’ concerns.
As part of his whirlwind tour, Commissioner Ranganath visited key water bodies, including Nizam Talab in Nizampet, Medi Kunta in Madhapur, Erla Cheruvu in Tellapur, and several other lakes.
At Medi Kunta in Gutla Begumpet, the Commissioner assured residents that immediate action will be taken to address illegal encroached areas and the lake will be developed into a vibrant, eco-friendly public space.
A similar promise was made to residents of Bandari Layout and Vasanth Nagar Colony near Nizam Talab lake, where HYDRAA aims to transform the water body into a serene recreational area for the community.
During his visit to Eedula Kunta at Khanamet, the HYDRAA chief interacted with the surrounding villagers regarding the ongoing dispute about the lake. While some people claim it to be a natural lake, others assert that it is private property.
The Commissioner assured the public that the agency will provide clarity on the matter after completing a thorough inquiry with all the concerned departments.
Interacting with local officers and residents near the Erla Cheruvu in Tellapur, HYDRAA Commissioner emphasized the importance of preserving the water body. He stated that all relevant departments would be consulted, and necessary measures would be taken to save the lake.
Ranganath highlighted the importance of community involvement in preserving urban lakes, urging residents to support HYDRAA’s initiatives for a cleaner and greener Hyderabad.
