Listen to Story

Hyderabad: Following complaints from resident welfare associations, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) stepped into action to conduct a comprehensive survey in Ameenpur to investigate park and road encroachment.

Venkataramana Colony residents filed a complaint against Golden Key Venture alleging that it had encroached upon over an acre of park land and roads. Both parties knocked on the court doors against the same. Following court directives,HYDRAA conducted a survey.

“Officials from the Joint Director (JD) Survey Office and Hydra participated in an extensive survey covering 150 acres across 5 survey numbers. The survey was carried out in the presence of residents from Venkataramana Colony, Chakrapuri Colony, managers from Golden Key Ventures, and villagers from the surrounding areas,” said a statement released by HYDRAA.

After examining the layouts, HYDRAA is working on the protection of parks and roads based on the survey numbers. The officials are trying to determine the exact boundaries of the lands based on survey numbers and boundaries, in order to ascertain the extent of encroachment by various parties, added the press statement.

Both parties went to court against each other

Representatives from HYDRAA, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), Municipality, Revenue, and Survey departments participated in the comprehensive survey.

It is pertinent to be noted that on 16 October 2024, the Telangana government issued a Government Order (GO) to engage the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA). HYDRAA was engaged for effective protection of all Public Assets within GHMC. The protection of such assets would be helpful in disaster mitigation efforts. HYDRAA, a specialized agency for Disaster Management and Asset Protection, can address both issues.

With that GO, HYDRAA was empowered under GHMC Act to protect public assets and issue notices, speaking orders/demolition orders, and seize buildings.
