Hydraa Solves Sewage Problem In Ramachandraiah Colony, Mallampet, In 24 Hours

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) resolved a sewage problem within 24 hours of receiving a complaint, bringing relief to the residents of Ramachandraiah Colony in Mallampet, Dundigal Mandal, Medchal–Malkajgiri district on April 22, 2024.

According to the Ramachandraiah Colony residents, a portion of the colony was facing a sewage overflow due to blockages in the drainage channel running from Chennam Lake to Rellakunta.

As the water levels rose above a meter, several houses were submerged in sewage, forcing the residents to vacate their homes. “Our homes were flooded with sewage… we’ve been living outside for a month,” the residents of Ramachandraiah Colony mentioned in their complaint submitted through HYDRAA Prajavani on Monday.

Locals stated that sewage from Nizampet Municipality reaches Chennam Lake in Dundigal Municipality and should flow to Rellakunta, which falls under Bollaram Municipality. However, blockages along the way disrupted this flow. In their complaint, residents revealed that developers of a nearby layout had closed off part of the drainage channel, triggering the problem.

They also expressed frustration that even after bringing this to the attention of the concerned authorities earlier, no action was taken.

HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath reviewed the issue using Google Maps and satellite images. He promptly ordered officials to resolve it. On Tuesday, HYDRAA personnel reached the site and restored the blocked drainage channel. As a result, the stagnant sewage water began to drain out of Ramachandraiah Colony.

In a state of helplessness, the residents turned to HYDRAA Prajavani and were overjoyed to see the problem resolved within 24 hours.
