Hyderabad HYDRAA seeks clarity on Musi construction doubts

HYDERABAD: HYDRAA Commissioner A V Ranganath said the authority has written to the Rajendranagar tahsildar seeking clarification on doubts that Aditya Builders may have encroached into the Musi riverbed while undertaking construction.
He said the letter was sent after examining satellite images and noting concerns flagged in the digital elevation model report. HYDRAA asked the revenue official to verify the issue on the ground and submit a response. “We are still awaiting a reply,” he added.
Construction permissions granted to Aditya Builders on the Musi riverbank were revoked during the previous government’s tenure, a decision that the present government also continued. The developer then approached the High Court, stating that works were not being carried out in the buffer zone and submitting evidence that construction was taking place at a setback.
The High Court directed revenue and irrigation officials to verify the claim. Based on their reports, the court restored the construction permissions. Work has since been continuing at the site.
HYDRAA urged former MLC K Kavitha to understand the facts before criticising the authority. It said that even after the High Court restored the permissions, the letter to the tahsildar was written only to reconfirm the situation.
The authority clarified that doubts arose after satellite imagery suggested a compound wall might be coming up inside the riverbed. It had earlier explained the same when allegations were made against HYDRAA, and issued the latest clarification in response to fresh remarks.
