HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Sunday said the Full Tank Level (FTL) limits of Sunnam Cheruvu in Madhapur remain unchanged.

The agency said lake development works are being carried out strictly as per the FTL demarcation finalised in May 2014. It said the boundaries were determined scientifically and transparently in coordination with the irrigation and revenue departments.

HYDRAA rejected allegations by Kukatpally MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao that the FTL limits were altered for development works.

Lake expanded from 14 to 31 acres

The agency said Sunnam Cheruvu had shrunk to 14 acres due to encroachments. It has now been restored to 31 acres as per the limits fixed by the irrigation department in 2014.

HYDRAA said the FTL boundaries are permanent and cannot be changed.

Irrigation officials briefed MLA on site

The agency recalled that irrigation officials clarified the issue in the presence of all concerned when the MLA visited the lake on Monday.

HYDRAA said the development works are being undertaken based on geo-coordinates determined by the irrigation department in 2014.

It added that there will be no protection for influential persons and no injustice to the poor in the matter.
