HYDRAA resumes demolitions in Ameenpur municipality
Hyderabad: After a brief pause, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) took up the demolition drive in Ameenpur municipality on Monday. HYDRAA officials, along with officials from the revenue and municipal departments, were seen supervising the exercise.
The demolition work is being carried out at Survey Number 848 in Vandanapuri colony using heavy machinery, including a JCB excavator. According to the HYDRAA officials, they are razing the unauthorized structures built on government land in the area. Due to the presence of a strong police force at the site, no protests or disruptions were seen from the affected residents.
Between August 31 and September 8, the HYDRAA officials carried out a series of demolitions. They demolished large sheds, compound walls, and villas constructed within the Full Tank Level (FTL) limits of four water bodies – Appa Cheruvu, Ameenpur Lake, Sunnam Cheruvu in Madhapur, and Katwa Lake in Dundigal. The authorities stated they reclaimed 67.48 acres of government land in these operations.
