Hyderabad: HYDRAA resolves 20-year Chakrapuri dispute

HYDERABAD: The Commissioner of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), AV Ranganath, says residents of Chakrapuri Colony in Ameenpur Municipality, Sangareddy district, set an example by actively pursuing the resolution of a long-pending civic dispute.
He said the residents not only filed complaints but also submitted relevant documents and cooperated with officials to resolve the issue. When the residents visited the HYDRA headquarters on Monday to felicitate him for solving a 20-year-old dispute, the Commissioner instead honoured them.
Ranganath urged other colony welfare associations to emulate Chakrapuri residents and work with officials to resolve local issues. He also praised HYDRA Inspector Balagopal for coordinating at the field level.
Complaint leads to field inspection
Representatives of the Chakrapuri Colony Welfare Association said they had approached several offices and officials over the years without success.
“In such circumstances, we came to the HYDRAA office and filed a complaint during the Prajavani grievance programme. The Commissioner directly examined the complaint and visited Chakrapuri Colony to conduct a field inquiry with officials. He then convened a meeting with both parties and verified the documents in their presence,” the association representatives said.
They said the layout, developed in 1985 across 80 acres with 750 plots, was examined along with documents submitted by the opposite party. Officials confirmed that 1,253.8 square yards of park land had been encroached upon.
Those owning adjacent agricultural land had allegedly encroached into the layout by about three-and-a-half acres, occupying parks, roads and plots. HYDRAA immediately fenced the park land, bringing clarity on encroachments of roads and open spaces. As a result, 30 plots were freed from encroachment.
“Our happiness knows no bounds. A 20-year problem has finally been resolved,” the association said, adding that residents celebrated the development.
They also said a 200-foot road from Bachupally to Ameenpur via Chakrapuri Colony had been cleared. Thousands use this stretch daily, and they urged municipal authorities to take up further works immediately. They requested HYDRAA to intervene in this regard.
