HYDRAA team rescuing duck trapped in Chinese manja at Yapral lake in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: In a time when even human lives are often ignored after road accidents, a HYDRAA team stepped in to save a duck trapped in Chinese kite string at Yapral Cheruvu in the Jawahar Nagar area.

Duck spotted struggling in lake

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when walkers near Yapral lake noticed a water duck trapped in Chinese manja and struggling to move. As the bird was inside the lake and darkness was setting in, they were unable to rescue it and alerted HYDRAA.

Night rescue operation

After receiving the call, eight HYDRAA personnel rushed to the spot around 8 pm with an airboat and rescue equipment. Despite low visibility, four team members entered the lake using the airboat, guided by torchlights.

Manja carefully removed

The duck was found immobilised, with kite string tightly wrapped around its body. The team pulled it out of the water and spent about five minutes carefully cutting and removing the manja. After checking for injuries, they took the duck back into the lake and released it safely.

Local residents and animal lovers praised HYDRAA for responding at night and acting swiftly to save the life of a voiceless creature.
