HYDRAA rescues buffalo from Madhapur manhole, removes road encroachments in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: In a remarkable rescue effort, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) successfully rescued a buffalo that had fallen into a manhole on 100ft Road, Ayyappa Society, Madhapur, Hyderabad, on March 21, 2025. The buffalo, which had been struggling for hours, was finally brought to safety after HYDRAA teams worked tirelessly in the heavy rain.
A HYDRAA official highlighted, “Every life matters—be it human or animal. This rescue reflects our commitment to protecting and saving lives, regardless of the challenges we face.”
In another action, HYDRAA responded swiftly to a complaint regarding road encroachment at the 2 BHK Dignity Housing Colony in Kawadiguda, Musheerabad Constituency. Within 48 hours of receiving the complaint, the agency removed the fencing and other encroachments blocking the road on March 21, 2025.
Additionally, in Abdullapur mandal of Ranga Reddy District, HYDRAA began dismantling an illegal road constructed within the Full Tank Level (FTL) zone of Masab Cheruvu. The road, which was built with large rocks and fill material, encroached upon the nearly 700-acre lake.
Local complaints had raised concerns about real estate developers illegally constructing the road in the protected area. The issue was also raised by MLA Mallareddy in the Telangana Legislative Assembly, urging authorities to act.
HYDRAA’s investigation revealed that the Full Tank Level boundary had been set by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), and the road had been built within the reservoir. As a result, the agency initiated the process of clearing the road, which is expected to take time due to the large rocks used in construction. HYDRAA has assured that the road will be fully removed.
