HYDRAA reclaims Rs 139 crore Rajendranagar parkland from encroachers

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) reclaimed approximately 20,000 square yards of parkland in Rajendranagar on Wednesday. This land, worth Rs 139 crores, had been seized by encroachers despite its status as part of an approved government layout.
The operation targeted four public parks in Jana Chaitanya Layout, Phases I and II, located in the villages of Budvel and Upparapally. This area was originally developed by the Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) over 120 acres.
Action after Prajavani complaint
The action was initiated after HYDRAA’s public grievance cell, Prajavani, received complaints about unauthorized occupation of land designated for recreation and green spaces. A joint team from HYDRAA, the Revenue Department, and the local municipal body inspected the site, identified several encroachments, and scheduled the demolition for Wednesday.
During the operation, HYDRAA officials removed unauthorized structures, including sheds and rooms built by guards to facilitate land occupation. The removed sheds measured 3,000, 1,000, and 500 square yards.
“HYDRAA has freed 19,878 square yards of land that was taken illegally. Its value is estimated at more than Rs. 139 crores,” said a HYDRAA statement. To prevent future encroachment and facilitate public use of the area, HYDRAA began installing a fence around the reclaimed parks immediately after clearing the land.
