HYDRAA Commissioner launches website for real estate information in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Management and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) will play a key role in promoting environmentally sustainable urban development, said HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath on Thursday, April 10, 2025.
Speaking at the launch of a new website by HRCS India at its LB Nagar office, Ranganath said the platform will help connect consumers, banks, and real estate firms. He noted that while there were early concerns about HYDRAA’s legal standing, those have now been addressed.
HYDRAA was established to protect lakes, parks, drains, government lands, and public-use areas from encroachment. Ranganath stressed the importance of caution while buying property, likening it to the significance of marriage in one’s life.
“Some individuals manipulate survey numbers and sell properties illegally built on government land using fake approvals,” he warned. “Thorough verification is essential before making any purchase.”
He said HYDRAA is helping increase public awareness about lake boundaries, Full Tank Level (FTL) norms, and buffer zones. The agency plans to soon release detailed maps showing the boundaries of lakes and government lands in Hyderabad.
Ranganath also announced that development work is underway on six lakes, which is expected to be completed before the monsoon. He said improving lakes and drainage systems is vital to reduce urban flooding.
Commenting on the state of the real estate market, he pointed to global economic factors as contributing to a slowdown, with around 300,000 flats and houses currently unsold in Hyderabad. However, he said there are signs of recovery.
“A real estate sector free from fraud will benefit everyone,” he said. “Affordable housing can help the market bounce back.” He welcomed HRCS India’s initiative to support consumers by ensuring that banks provide loans only for genuine projects.
