HYDRAA urged to protect Kohe-Imam-e-Zamin

Hyderabad: Telangana State Waqf Board Member raises concern over unauthorized encroachments on Koh-e-Imam-e-Zamin, a significant Shia religious waqf site in Tirumalagiri. On Tuesday, the member submitted a representation to Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA).

Telangana State Waqf Board Member Dr. Syed Nisar Hussain, also known as Hyder Agha Sahab, met with A.V. Ranganath, Commissioner of Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA).

During the meeting, a representation was submitted to the Commissioner regarding unauthorized encroachments on Koh-e-Imam-e-Zamin, a significant Shia religious waqf site in Tirumalagiri.

The representation highlighted concerns over ongoing illegal activities affecting the site’s sanctity and security. The delegation urged Commissioner Ranganathan to initiate immediate measures to prevent further encroachment and protectWaqf properties in the area.

A V Ranganath assured Dr. Syed Nisar Hussain that the matter would be promptly addressed, and actions taken to rectify the situation. Along with Hussain, prominent legal professionals Advocate Syed Ali Jaffry and Advocate Syed Najmul Hassan Baqri were present.

Kohe Imam-e-Zamin

Popular as Kohe Imam-e-Zamin, it’s also called Kohe Imam Pahadi owing to the hillock it is situated atop at Ammuguda in Sainikpuri.The dargah is named after Imam Musa Ar-Reza, who was born on December 29, 765, in Medina and martyred on August 23, 818. Imam Musa Ar-Reza is also known as Imam-e-Zamin, which means “surety or guarantee.” People visit the Kohe-e-Zamin to mark the birth anniversary of Imam Musa Ar-Reza, seeking surety and guarantee for various aspects of their lives, including a safe journey. The dargah is also a popular destination for newly-wed couples seeking blessings. The Kohe Imam-e-Zamin is an Ashoorkhana, a special place for commemorating the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad.
