HYDRAA clears encroachments on govt land worth hundreds of crores in Hafeezpet, Raidurgam

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Saturday cleared illegal encroachments on government land in Hafeezpet and Raidurgam, reclaiming land valued at hundreds of crores.
In Hafeezpet (Kondapur area), Serilingampally Municipality, encroachments were identified on 39.2 acres of government land listed under Survey Number 79. More than half the land had been occupied by construction companies, despite an ongoing legal dispute.
According to revenue records, the land is officially classified as government property and is listed under the prohibited lands category. However, Vasantha Homes allegedly manipulated land records by generating a new survey number, 79/1, and proceeded with unauthorized construction.
The company occupied 19 acres, built and sold houses, and developed office buildings and sheds on the remaining land. These properties were rented out to private firms, all while a case concerning the land remains pending before the Supreme Court.
Despite court restrictions prohibiting any construction activity while the case is unresolved, development continued. The Supreme Court, while hearing the case, questioned how construction had been allowed without a final decree. In response, HYDRAA demolished the illegal structures, removed compound walls, and installed signboards identifying the land as government property.
The issue came to light after a group of local youth who regularly played cricket in the area filed a complaint. They reported being prevented from playing and alleged that a nearby lake was being encroached and roads were being built illegally.
Following this complaint, HYDRAA inspected another site at Survey Number 5/2 near the Dargah in Raidurgam, Shaikpet Mandal, where nearly 39 acres of government land had also been encroached.
Despite clear warning signs of an ongoing land dispute, Narne Estates had put up plot sale boards with contact numbers, laid roads, and began selling plots without any approved layout. They had also encroached on a lake and converted it into plots for sale.
HYDRAA removed all illegal developments at both locations, erected official signage marking the land as government property, and filed police cases against the parties involved.
