HYDRAA demolishes illegal sports academy structures in Madhapur
Madhapur: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) conducted a demolition drive in Madhapur on Monday morning, September 23, 2024, targeting illegal structures at Kavuri Hills Park.
This action follows numerous complaints from the Kavuri Hills Association regarding the presence of a sports academy within the park.
Officials from HYDRAA dismantled the academy structures and restored the area to its original designation as Kavuri Hills Park. The sports academy’s management, however, claimed that they hold a 25-year lease from the Kavuri Hills Association and argued that the demolition is unjustified before the lease expires.
On the previous day, HYDRAA also initiated a demolition operation in the Ameenpur and Kukatpally areas, where several illegal constructions in Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zones were razed. The Nalla Cheruvu water body in Kukatpally, once covering 27 acres, has shrunk to just 14 acres due to encroachment by land mafias and grabbers.
Officials reported that approximately 7 acres of this water body, including FTL and buffer zones, have been illegally occupied, leading to the emergence of over 50 concrete structures and apartments.
Following notices from HYDRAA, owners of temporary sheds on the encroached land have begun dismantling their structures. Similar demolition efforts were carried out in the Ameenpur, Krishna Reddy Peta, and Patel Nagar localities, with 30 villas demolished in Ameenpur alone on Sunday morning. Several illegal constructions in Ailapur village of Ameenpur Mandal were also removed earlier this month.
This intensified demolition initiative commenced shortly after the Telangana State Cabinet strengthened the HYDRAA, empowering its officials and workers to address encroachments across various parts of Hyderabad.
