HYDERABAD: HYDRAA officials carried out an anti-encroachment drive at Kotha Cheruvu in Kokapet under Gandipet mandal on Tuesday, demolishing alleged illegal structures built within the lake’s Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zone limits.

Illegal structures razed near lake limits

Officials identified several structures, including compound walls and temporary constructions, that were allegedly raised inside protected lake areas. Heavy machinery was deployed to remove the encroachments during the operation.

Police personnel were stationed at the site to maintain law and order during the demolition drive.

Fencing work begins after demolition

Following the removal of the structures, HYDRAA initiated fencing work around Kotha Cheruvu to prevent further encroachments and land grabbing around the water body.

Officials said the action forms part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to protect Hyderabad’s lakes and preserve water bodies from illegal occupation.

Drive part of wider lake protection mission

HYDRAA has been conducting enforcement operations across the city to safeguard lakes, nalas and other water bodies from encroachments. Officials said similar action would continue wherever violations are identified.
