Hydraa Commissioner Takes Action On 100 Acres Of Encroached Land In Tirumalagiri

Hyderabad: HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath has initiated inspections following complaints regarding the encroachment of government land in several areas of the city.

One of the areas inspected was Tirumalagiri village in Alwal Mandal, where over 100 acres of land, listed as state government property in the General Land Records, is being claimed by private individuals. The Commissioner has instructed officials to halt the issuance of construction permits on this land.

Ranganath also visited the Lingam Cheruvu canal near Bubba Khan Lake in Dundigal village, Gandimaisamma Mandal, in response to local complaints. Encroachments and illegal constructions along the canal have obstructed floodwaters, leading to flooding in the area. The Commissioner has urged both residents and real estate companies to work together to resolve the issue, in accordance with court orders addressing the nala problem.

In Hafeezpet, the Commissioner inspected a case of alleged land encroachment under the TDR scheme. Officials have been directed to investigate whether government land has been illegally occupied in this area.

Earlier, during a public meeting on March 10, 2025, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) received 63 complaints about the encroachment of lake beds and other public lands.

Some individuals were reportedly creating passbook records to claim ownership of land previously designated as lake beds, converting these areas into agricultural fields. Complaints also highlighted encroachments on roads and parks, with residents urging immediate action to protect these spaces.

Additionally, some complaints alleged that former municipal councillors and ward members were using their influence to encroach on public land. Many complainants expressed frustration that, despite filing complaints, no action had been taken by local authorities.

Commissioner Ranganath, who attended the meeting, acknowledged the concerns and assured the public that the agency would investigate the issues raised.
