HYDRAA Commissioner inspects encroachments of Kuntloor lake

Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), which has been tasked to eliminate encroachments and illegal constructions, is back in the news.

HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath was seen interacting with the locals residing near the Kuntloor Pedda Cheruvu under the Pedda Amberpet Municipality on Wednesday. The locals had sent several complaints to the agency and requested the officials visit to inspect the alleged encroachments in the buffer zone of the water body and also assess the construction of a road in the area.

Commissioner Ranganath and the team of officials inspected the lake and encroachments. The Commissioner interacted with the landowners and listened to their concerns. He assured them the agency will carry out a detailed survey of the water body to assess the extent of encroachments and subsequently take appropriate measures based on its findings to address the concern.

Meanwhile, BJP MLA Katipalli Venkata Ramana Reddy has raised the issue of encroachments of water bodies around Hyderabad. He submitted a complaint to the HYDRAA Commissioner and said five realtors have allegedly constructed high-rise buildings, gated villas and other commercial buildings on encroached lands of water bodies on the outskirts.
