HYDRAA clears septic tank encroachments in Kukatpally

HYDERABAD: Encroachments on land earmarked for septic tanks and open spaces are becoming routine across the city, with vacant plots meant for public utilities being converted into private layouts.
In Hyderabad, residents of Shilpa Brundavan Colony near Alvin Colony Circle in the Kukatpally zone complained to the HYDRAA about encroachments on a septic tank area and an adjacent open space in their layout.
According to the complaint, V Y V Rao had occupied the septic tank land and the neighbouring vacant site. Residents further alleged that, along with Shilpa Developers, an unauthorised layout was being developed by showing part of the land as private agricultural property while extending into adjoining government land. They said layout boundaries were altered and roads marked without approvals, affecting even the original colony limits.
Acting on the HYDRAA Commissioner’s directions, teams from the revenue department and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation conducted a field inspection. Officials confirmed encroachments covering about 20 guntas in the septic tank area.
On Thursday, HYDRAA removed the encroachments and erected fencing around the unauthorised layout. Officials said the action safeguarded the septic tank site, open spaces and nearly four acres of land identified as government property, preventing further encroachment and protecting prospective buyers from being misled.
Residents of Shilpa Brundavan Colony welcomed the swift action, stating that prompt field-level inspection and protection of land meant for public use had addressed long-pending concerns.
