HYDERABAD : The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) carried out a major operation in the IT corridor and secured government land under alleged encroachment.

Acting in Khanamet village of Serilingampally mandal in Ranga Reddy district, officials took possession of more than eight acres in Survey No. 55 on Tuesday. The land lies close to the IT hub.

HYDRAA secures government land worth ₹1,200 crore

Of the total extent, about 4.20 acres were under the control of real estate firms, while another four acres were claimed by Kolanu Sabitha, daughter of Kolanu Madhava Reddy. Temporary sheds on the site were removed during the operation.

Vasavi Constructions dismantled an RCC plant set up on the government land. HYDRAA officials also cleared sheds used by construction workers and removed stored building material.

Officials installed signboards declaring the land as government property and completed fencing around the entire stretch. The market value of the recovered land is estimated at over ₹1,200 crore.

Inquiry confirms land as assigned government property

Authorities said the land in Survey No. 55 is classified as assigned land and has already been placed in the prohibited list by the Ranga Reddy Collector, confirming government ownership.

Despite this, Meenakshi Real Estate had been claiming ownership over part of the land and using about 4.20 acres. The same survey number also includes land claimed by Kolanu Sabitha, where private security personnel had been deployed.

Following a complaint, HYDRAA conducted a field inquiry along with officials from concerned departments. Based on findings, the land was confirmed as government property.

Fencing completed after removal of encroachments

Acting on the directions of HYDRAA Commissioner A V Ranganath, officials removed encroachments on Tuesday and secured the site.

This is not the first action in the area. Earlier, HYDRAA had cleared encroachments in nearby Survey No. 53, including the Mondikunta area, and had taken possession of up to 11 acres in Survey No. 55.
