HYDRAA fencing government land in Survey No. 44 at Maktha Mahboobpet

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has assured residents living in Survey No. 44 at Maktha Mahboobpet village in Serilingampally mandal that it will not disturb existing residential houses.

HYDRAA clarified that it will not take up any action against houses that are already occupied. The agency said its focus is only on preventing fresh encroachments on government land.

No action on existing houses

According to HYDRAA, Survey No. 44 has a total extent of 260.01 acres recorded as government land in Sethwar village records. While a large number of houses have already been constructed on parts of this land, the agency reiterated that it will not touch existing residences.

However, HYDRAA said it would act strictly against those who allegedly created forged documents and constructed unauthorised commercial complexes. Such encroachers, the agency said, are misleading residents and creating fear to safeguard their illegal properties.

Fencing only to stop encroachments

HYDRAA said fencing is being erected solely to prevent further encroachments on government land. It noted that some shop owners and businessmen had illegally occupied land and were earning lakhs of rupees every month by renting out shops and showrooms.

Based on a complaint received during Prajavani, HYDRAA earlier secured five acres of government land near BK Enclave lake and fenced it. Over the weekend, fencing was completed around another 15 acres of government land in Survey No. 44.

Policy applies across Telangana

HYDRAA said the state government constituted the agency in July 2024 and has already decided that houses constructed before its formation will not be demolished. This policy applies uniformly across all areas, it added.

The agency also said the state government has taken a serious view of illegal registrations carried out using forged documents and has suspended a sub-registrar from the Stamps and Registration Department.

HYDRAA appealed to residents not to be misled or used as pawns by encroachers attempting to protect illegal constructions and commercial activities.
