HYDRAA clears ₹54 crore land in Neknampur

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Wednesday protected 2,700 sq yards of government land in Neknampur village of Gandipet mandal in Rangareddy district. The land, meant for public use, is valued at around ₹54 crore.
The land forms part of 59.14 acres in Survey No. 31, allotted by the government in 2002 to Secretariat employees. A Hyderabad Urban Development Authority layout was approved in 2007. After allotment of plots, houses were constructed.
As per the layout, 2,700 sq yards were earmarked for a park and other public amenities. The site, located on a small hillock, remained undeveloped.
Permission taken elsewhere, construction here
An individual obtained building permission by showing a plot in Survey No. 22 at Venkateswara Colony, adjacent to the Secretariat Employees’ Colony. However, construction was carried out on the land reserved for a park and public use in the Secretariat Employees’ Colony.
Foundations and pillars had been laid, and slab work was about to begin.
Residents of Dr YSR Enclave Secretariat Employees Colony Residents Welfare Association lodged a complaint through Hydra Prajavani.
Following the complaint, Hydra officials, along with municipal and revenue authorities, conducted a field inquiry. The inquiry confirmed the irregularities.
On the directions of Hydra Commissioner A.V. Ranganath, the encroachments were removed on Wednesday.
Temporary sheds built on five other plots, which were allegedly carved out of the hillock and sold earlier, were also cleared. Hydra fenced the entire 2,700 sq yards of land and installed boards marking it as public space.
