HYDRAA urges Hyderabad to report unsafe buildings

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has asked residents to report dilapidated buildings in residential and high-footfall areas by calling 9000113667.
HYDRAA said it is identifying old structures at risk of collapse and demolishing them safely to prevent accidents. The appeal follows a recent incident in Bengaluru, where seven people died and seven others were injured after a compound wall near Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital in Shivajinagar collapsed during heavy rain on Wednesday evening.
The agency noted that similar incidents in Hyderabad have led to loss of lives in the past. It said preventive steps are being taken to avoid such occurrences.
HYDRAA added that it is already collecting information from municipal corporations. It urged citizens to participate by sharing details of unsafe buildings, including photographs and live location, through the helpline.
The agency said information providers’ identities will be kept confidential. It also cautioned that the risk of collapse is not limited to the monsoon, as unseasonal rains can trigger accidents at any time.
