HYDRA resumes demolition drive in Ameenpur, Kukatpally
Hyderabad: A day after the Telangana State Cabinet strengthened the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRA), it’s officials and workers were seen on the ground clearing the encroachments in various parts of Hyderabad on Sunday morning.
The demolition drive on illegal structures built in the Full Tank Level (FTL) and buffer zones is currently underway at Ameenpur and Kukatpally areas. Several building structures are being razed to the ground in the presence of policemen and municipality officials.
According to the officials, Nalla Cheruvu located in Kukatpally was once spread over 27 acres and has now been shrunk to just 14 acres. During inspection, the officials found that the land mafia and land grabbers have encroached 7 acres of water body which includes FTL and buffer zone. Due to rampant encroachments, more than 50 concrete structures and apartments have come up in the area. Following the notices from HYDRA, owners had completed the dismantling work of temporary sheds on the encroached land.
Similar illegal constructions are also being demolished in Ameenpur, Krishna Reddy Peta and Patel Nagar localities. In Ameenpur alone, 30 villas were razed by the officials this morning. Earlier this month, the HYDRA team demolished several illegal structures in Ailapur village of Ameenpur mandal.
