Visitors at Nehru Zoological Park in Hyderabad during Christmas holiday

HYDERABAD: A record 23,440 people visited Nehru Zoological Park on Thursday, December 25, during the Christmas holiday.

Crowd management and facilities stepped up
Zoo authorities deployed officers across the park to ensure smooth operations. Drinking water units were arranged, and additional security personnel were stationed at key points to guide visitors.

Awareness programmes held for visitors
The park organised talk sessions with animal keepers and snake awareness programmes to promote wildlife awareness, the management said in a press release.

J Vasantha, curator of the zoo, said the park aims to attract more visitors by introducing new species such as zebra, meerkat, serval cat, barasingha and white swans. These animals are being brought under an exchange programme with other zoos across the country.

The zoological park currently houses 199 species of wild animals representing different countries, Vasantha added.
