HYDERABAD: Large crowds thronged Nehru Zoological Park on New Year’s Day on Thursday, with officials recording about 25,900 visitors.

Staff deployment and crowd management

Zoo officials said all officers and staff were deployed across the premises to ensure smooth movement and constant vigil. The online ticketing system, including mobile phone bookings, enabled quick entry, while additional counters were opened to manage footfall.

Enclosures and attractions draw crowds

Security guards and staff were posted at animal enclosures to safeguard wildlife and assist visitors. Enclosures housing tigers, lions, elephants, giraffes and zebras drew the highest crowds.
The reptile house, nocturnal animal house, and attractions such as the safari park complex, train ride and battery-operated vehicle ride also saw heavy turnout.

The curator, J Vasantha, thanked visitors for choosing the zoo as their New Year’s Day picnic destination.
