Hyderabad youth held for growing ganja at home

HYDERABAD: A software employee lost his job due to ganja addiction and was later arrested for cultivating the drug at his residence in Nacharam.
Addiction leads to job loss and illegal cultivation
Ch. Shashidhar, who had secured a software job, developed a ganja habit within six months. He spent his entire salary on the substance and eventually quit his job after becoming dependent on it.
With no money to purchase ganja, he began growing cannabis plants on the terrace of his house.
Enforcement raid seizes 17 plants in Nacharam
Acting on a tip-off, a Ranga Reddy Enforcement team led by Circle Inspector Balaraju raided a house in East Gandhinagar, Nacharam, and seized 17 ganja plants.
Officials said some plants had started flowering, while others had grown up to three metres. The team estimated that the plants could yield around 10 kg of ganja.
Shashidhar was arrested and handed over to the Ghatkesar excise police station.
Students caught selling ganja in Medipally
In a separate operation, the same team caught two students studying BTech in Medipally while allegedly selling ganja.
Police seized 480 grams of ganja from them and arrested Bandi Arun Kumar and B. Ashish. They were also handed over to the Ghatkesar excise police station.
Assistant Commissioner R. Kishan and Enforcement official Jeevan Kiran commended the team for the seizures.
