Hyderabad woman steals watches for boyfriend birthday gift
HYDERABAD: A 26-year-old woman allegedly stole expensive watches to gift her boyfriend on his birthday and was arrested after being identified through CCTV footage, police said.
According to Jubilee Hills police station officials, the woman, a BTech graduate from Khammam district, works at a private firm in the city and stays in a hostel. She has been in a relationship with Kotta Muralidhar Goud, 29, also from Khammam, who works in the private sector.
Theft inside showroom caught on camera
Three days ago, she visited a watch showroom on Road No. 36 in Jubilee Hills along with Muralidhar Goud. While he remained seated in the car, she entered the showroom pretending to purchase a gift.
She asked the salesman to show multiple watches and, during the interaction, allegedly slipped two Tissot watches worth about ₹1 lakh each into her handbag. She later told the staff that she did not like the options and left the store.
Police trace accused using car details
Soon after, the salesman noticed the watches missing and alerted police. CCTV footage confirmed that the woman had taken the watches. Based on the car number, police tracked her to Khammam and arrested her.
Police registered a case against both the woman and her boyfriend and took them into custody.
