Harsh winter in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Brace up for harsh winter as monsoon season is coming to an end soon. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a potentially harsh winter this year.

The onset of winter is expected around mid-October in the Southeastern peninsula.

Anticipating the development of La Nina conditions between October and November this year, the weatherman forecasts a mercurial dip across North India including Hyderabad.

La Nina conditions are formed due to cooling of ocean surface temperatures in the central and eastern equatorial Pacific.

IMD chief Mrutyunjaya Mohapatra said that La Nina conditions are expected between October and November. He added that colder than normal temperatures would be experienced in northern India this year.

Notably, the mercury levels recorded a sharp decline during the winter season in 2023. This year to colder weather conditions are likely to prevail due to La Nina phenomenon linked developments in the coming weeks in parts of India
