Hyderabad Braces For Weather Change Storms Expected After 5 Pm

Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning about heat wave conditions currently prevailing in isolated pockets of Adilabad district in Telangana.

This is linked to a North-South trough, which had extended from the northern parts of Marathwada to the Gulf of Mannar, passing over interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. As of 5:30 a.m. today, this trough has shifted to the southern parts of Madhya Maharashtra and now runs from Telangana to the Gulf of Mannar, passing through Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu.

Local Weather Forecast for Hyderabad and Surrounding Areas

For Hyderabad, the IMD has forecasted a partly cloudy sky throughout the day. Light rain and thundershowers, accompanied by gusty winds of 40 to 50 km/h, are expected to develop in parts of the city towards the evening or night. Hazy conditions are also likely during the morning.

The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 38°C, with a minimum temperature around 25°C. Surface winds will be light, blowing from the south-east at speeds of 4-6 km/h.

Looking ahead to the next 48 hours, the weather will remain similar, with partly cloudy skies and the possibility of light rain and thundershowers in the evening or night. Gusty winds of 30 to 40 km/h are expected, and hazy conditions will persist in the morning. The maximum temperature will continue to hover around 38°C, with a minimum of 25°C. Winds will shift to a southerly direction, blowing at speeds of 4-6 km/h.

According to Telangana Weatherman @balaji25_t, significant storm development is expected today across the state. Towering clouds have already formed in Vikarabad, Medak, Sangareddy, and Medchal, and these are forecast to intensify into strong storms after 3:40 PM.

Meanwhile, a strong chain of storms is moving from Maharashtra and is likely to reach Adilabad, Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, and Sircilla after 4:00 PM. For Hyderabad, the city can expect a weather change after 5:00 PM, with storms likely to form in the late afternoon or evening.

Monsoon 2025 Outlook

In his update, the weather expert also provided an early outlook for the 2025 monsoon. According to the forecast, Telangana is expected to experience excellent monsoon rains this year, with conditions similar to the years 2013, 2017, and 2021, when the region saw heavy, flooding rains.

The presence of low-latitude depressions and low-pressure areas (LPAs) is expected to bring significant rainfall, leading to the possibility of floods in Telangana during the monsoon months of July to September.
