Hyderabad Water Supply Hit by Major Pipeline Leak
HYDERABAD: Drinking water supply to several parts of Hyderabad is set to be disrupted after a major leak was detected in the 1,500 mm-diameter main pipeline of the Manjeera Phase-II water supply system near Rudraram village.
The pipeline forms part of the Kalabgur–Patancheru pumping main that supplies drinking water to Hyderabad. Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) officials have taken up emergency repair works to contain the leak.
MD reviews repair works, seeks early restoration
HMWS&SB Managing Director Ashok Reddy reviewed the latest status of the repair works and sought updates from officials. He directed Operations and Maintenance and Transmission wing officials to coordinate closely and complete the repairs at the earliest.
The Managing Director instructed officials to restore normal water supply as soon as possible after the works are completed.
Tankers to support affected areas
Ashok Reddy also directed officials to ensure that residents in affected areas do not face inconvenience. He asked them to supply water through tankers wherever required until regular supply resumes.
Water supply disruptions are expected in the following areas:
- RC Puram ,Ashok Nagar,Jyothi Nagar,Lingampally,Chandanagar,Gangaram,Madinaguda,Miyapur,Beeramguda,Ameenpur,Bhagyanagar Colony
- Bulk connection off-take points under Transmission Division-2,Erragadda,SR Nagar,Ameerpet,KPHB Colony,Kukatpally,Pragathi Nagar
The Water Board appealed to consumers in the affected areas to use water sparingly until normal supply is restored.
