Hyderabad braces for week-long water supply disruption: HMWSSB

Hyderabad: As the shifting of an existing PSC water supply pipeline near BHEL Junction is taking longer than expected, Hyderabad residents get ready for a challenging week ahead as a major water supply disruption is set to hit several parts of the city.
The pipeline is being shifted as part of the ongoing construction of a flyover by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and the central agency had initially expected that the work would be completed in 12 hours. However, they are facing some challenges at work.
“The water board had to shift the PSC pipeline to another place to carry out road work at BHEL Junction. NHAI took the responsibility of this work. It told the water board that it would complete the work in 12 hours,” said Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) managing director Ashok Reddy. He added that the pipeline shift work has not been completed even after 30 hours. Authorities have urged citizens to use water judiciously during this period.
The water board official has said that the repair work may take a week to resume water supply in these areas: Division 6 including Erragadda, SR Nagar, Ameerpet; division 9 including KPHB Colony, Kukatpally, Moosapet, Jagadgirigutta.
Following areas under division 17 will also get affected: RC Puram, Ashok Nagar, Jyoti Nagar, Lingampalli, Chandanagar, Gangaram, Madinaguda, Miyapur and division 22 including Deepti Sri Nagar, Beeramguda, Aminpur, Nizampet.
