Hyderabad Water Board Calls Viral Recruitment Poster Fake

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has clarified that a viral social media poster claiming large-scale recruitment in the department is fake and misleading.
The poster, circulated under the title ‘Hyderabad Water Supply Board Telangana Recruitment 2026’, claimed that the Water Board was conducting recruitment drives and included details such as salaries, eligibility criteria and job descriptions.
HMWSSB denies recruitment notification
In a statement issued on Tuesday, HMWSSB said no recruitment process was currently underway and described the viral advertisement as “completely false and fake”.
Officials said the misleading poster could create confusion among unemployed youth and government job aspirants searching for employment opportunities.
The Board urged the public not to trust unverified social media posts or unofficial recruitment advertisements.
Recruitment only through authorised agencies
HMWSSB clarified that any future recruitment in the department would be conducted strictly according to government norms through authorised agencies such as the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC).
The Board said official recruitment notifications would be published only on government platforms, the official HMWSSB website and recognised media outlets.
Fake job advertisements raise concern
The incident has once again highlighted the growing spread of fake recruitment notifications on social media targeting government job aspirants.
In recent years, several fraudulent recruitment campaigns have surfaced online, creating confusion among candidates preparing for competitive examinations.
Authorities advised aspirants to verify job notifications only through official government websites before applying or sharing personal information.
HMWSSB appealed to the public not to circulate unverified recruitment posters or messages and asked candidates to rely only on official announcements for authentic updates related to jobs, examinations and recruitment processes.
