Hyderabad voters come out at snail’s pace: 10% voting recorded at 11am
Hyderabad: The polling percentage in the city of Hyderabad still looks abysmal, as it is only 10 percent around 11am on Monday morning. Telangana is going for the parliamentary elections for its 17 Lok Sabha seats in the state, the results of the same would be declared on June 4, 2024.
In Hyderabad, the voters are coming out at a snail’s pace, despite favourable weather in many parts. While at 10am the percentage of voters in the city was at 5 percent and now at around 11am, it went up to 10 percent. Secunderabad is faring better than Hyderabad, as it recorded 15.7 percent at around 11am.
Telangana government has also declared Monday as a paid holiday for all the citizens to perform their civic duty. And most of Hyderabad is also emptied, as several natives of Andhra have moved to their hometowns to cast their votes.
Zaheerabad tops in voting percent so far
The whole state of Telangana as an average has reported a voter percentage of 24.31 percent by 11am. Meanwhile, other districts in the state such record better percentages, Adilabad at 31.5, Bhuvanagiri at 27.9, Chevella at 20.3, Karimnagar at 26.1, Khammam at 31.5, Mahbubabad at 30.7, Mahbub Nagar at 26.9, Malkajgiri at 15.05, Medak at 28.32, Nagar Kurnool at 27.2, Nalgonda at 31.2, Nizamabad at 28.2, Pedapalli at 26.2, Secunderabad at 15.77, Warangal at 24.18, Zaheerabad at 31.83 per cent.
As of now, the polling is going on peacefully in the state without any major disturbances reported. This time, in Telangana, a tough fight is happening between various political parties. The recently elected Indian National Congress(INC) party and the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi(BRS) and Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) are trying their best to secure as many seats as possible in Telangana.
