Hyderabad Youth Trapped in Uppal Skywalk Lift
HYDERABAD: A youth identified as Rahul remained trapped inside a lift at the Uppal Skywalk for more than two hours on Thursday night after the lift reportedly developed a technical fault and stopped midway.
According to local residents, Rahul entered the lift late in the evening when it suddenly came to a halt between floors. Despite repeated attempts to seek help, he remained stranded inside the confined space for over two hours, causing panic and distress.
Lift Stops Midway, Rescue Delayed
Following alerts from passers-by and family members, maintenance staff and technicians were informed about the incident. However, the rescue operation was delayed as technicians took time to reach the site and restore the lift’s functioning.
Rahul was finally brought out safely at around 1.15 am after technicians opened the lift and assisted him out.
Heart Patient Alleges Lack of Timely Response
After the rescue, Rahul expressed concern over the delay in responding to the emergency. He said he is a heart patient and faced considerable discomfort while being trapped inside the lift for such a long period.
“I repeatedly sought help, but there was no immediate response. Being a heart patient made the situation even more difficult,” Rahul said.
Residents Raise Safety Concerns
The incident has raised fresh concerns over the maintenance and monitoring of public infrastructure facilities. Local residents said lifts installed at public places should have functional emergency communication systems and prompt technical support.
