Hyderabad Uppal to see IPL traffic diversions

HYDERABAD: Traffic diversions will be enforced in and around Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium during the Indian Premier League 2026 matches scheduled on April 5, 13, 18, 21 and May 3, 6, 22. Police said moderate congestion is expected in the Uppal area due to match-related traffic.
Heavy vehicles restricted on match days routes
Heavy vehicles such as lorries, dumpers, earth movers, trucks, tippers, water tankers, ready-mix concrete vehicles, JCBs, Eicher vans, private buses and tractors will be diverted within Uppal traffic police station limits during the match days.
April 21 match to see peak congestion hours
On April 21, during the IPL match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals, traffic congestion is expected from 12 pm to 12 midnight.
Congestion is likely on the stretch from Nagole to Habsiguda via Uppal junction, and from Boduppal to Amberpet via Uppal junction and Ramanthapur. Commuters have been advised to avoid these routes and use alternative roads.
Police urged the public to use public transport such as RTC buses and metro rail services to reach their destinations.
Traffic from Ghatkesar towards Uppal will be diverted at HMDA Bhagya entrance near Mehfil Hotel towards Nagole–LB Nagar. Vehicles from LB Nagar towards Uppal will take a U-turn at Nagole Metro station and proceed via Boduppal–Chengicherla–Cherlapally or Ghatkesar.
Vehicles coming from Tarnaka will be diverted at Habsiguda X Road towards Nacharam, NFC rotary and Cherlapally before reaching Ghatkesar. Traffic from Ramanthapur will be diverted at Street No. 8 towards Habsiguda X Road and further via Nacharam and NFC rotary.
Vehicles travelling from Warangal to Hyderabad via Uppal have been advised to take the Outer Ring Road at Ghatkesar via Abdullapurmet, LB Nagar and Dilsukhnagar. Vehicles travelling from Hyderabad to Warangal should take the LB Nagar–Hayathnagar route and join the Outer Ring Road at Abdullapurmet.
Five designated parking zones for spectators
Police identified five parking locations for spectators on April 21. Four parking areas are located outside the stadium within a 500-metre radius for the public, while one parking facility inside the stadium is reserved for VVIP and VIP pass holders.
The designated public parking areas include Penguin, TGIALA, DSL open area opposite NSL building, and Modern Bakery. Inside the stadium, A Ground parking is reserved for authorised pass holders, with entry allowed only through Gate 1A. Vehicles without valid passes will not be permitted beyond EK Minar and LG godown checkpoints.
Parking guidelines issued for different routes
Commuters travelling from LB Nagar have been advised to park along the industrial lane road from LG godown junction to Chemveda junction. Those coming from Habsiguda should take a U-turn at Survey of India and use Penguin or TG IALA parking facilities.
Motorists travelling from Ramanthapur should take a U-turn at DSL Mall and park at DSL open area or near Modern Bakery along the designated stretch.
Police requested the public to plan their travel in advance and cooperate with Malkajgiri traffic police. They reiterated that commuters should prefer public transport such as RTC buses and metro rail services to avoid inconvenience.
