Hyderabad police bust unhygienic ice candy unit, one arrested

HYDERABAD: The Commissioner’s Task Force, Golconda Zone, along with Mehdipatnam police, raided an ice candy and lassi manufacturing unit in the city and arrested one person for allegedly producing and supplying food items in unhygienic conditions.
The accused, Syed Musharafuddin, 24, was running a unit under the name “Aliya Ice Cream Parlour” at Ahmed Nagar, First Lancer, Bada Bazar, Mehdipatnam. Police said he was manufacturing ice candies and lassi using unsafe methods and harmful substances.
Large quantity of stock and equipment seized
Officials seized materials worth ₹5,44,290 during the raid. These included 92 packets of ice candies (each containing 180 pieces), 20 packets of lassi candies (each containing 210 pieces), and 300 glasses of lassi.
Other items seized include 15 buckets of curd (10 kg each), 50 kg sugar, one lassi machine, one ice candy machine, eight kg citric acid, 500 gm sucrose, flavouring agents, three packing machines, six refrigerators, and additional packing equipment.
Case registered under BNS sections
Police said the accused was using chemical substances and operating in unhygienic conditions to earn illegal profits, thereby endangering public health.
A case has been registered as Crime No. 83/2026 under Sections 274, 275 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Mehdipatnam police station.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Ande Srinivasa Rao, with Inspector R Venkatesh of the Task Force, Inspector S Mallesh of Mehdipatnam police station, and other officers.
