Hyderabad: Hyderabad residents are voicing their frustrations regarding the increasing traffic congestion caused by vehicles parked on footpaths, wrong parking on roads, and road encroachments. The ongoing issues have made commuting a struggle, as large sections of roads are obstructed, leading to significant delays for drivers.

An anonymous resident, Rusty, shared their concerns about the traffic situation in Prakash Nagar with the Hyderabad Mail. “Encroachment and wrong parking are making it difficult for commuters to use the roads. A journey that would usually take five minutes now takes over fifteen minutes due to these road encroachments and parking issues. I urge the Hyderabad Traffic Police to take strict action and educate people about this menace,” said Rusty.

Rusty had earlier raised this issue on X (formerly Twitter) with the post: “Encroachment, wrong parking, etc. are causing daily traffic issues at Prakash Nagar area main lane, opposite Old Airport, Begumpet @HYDTP.”

In another instance, Sainik Puri Main Road residents also expressed their frustrations. According to locals, the road has become a hotspot for parked vehicles, food trucks, and people occupying the roads for eating and smoking, further exacerbating the already dire traffic conditions.

The issue was highlighted by the social media handle Hi Secunderabad!! (@ApnaSecbad), who tweeted, “@CommissionrGHMC @GHMCOnline @RCKTRAFFIC How difficult is it for you to ensure that our footpaths are meant for pedestrians? Sainik Puri Main Road is a mess with vehicles parked on the footpath, food trucks on them, and people parking on the road to eat, smoke, etc.”

Their post further read, “F3, Groove 9, Paprika, Dasara, none of them have dedicated parking. The footpath is their designated parking area. Someone is handsomely benefiting every month for allowing such chaos on the roads. The main road and the bylanes have become parking areas.”

Another concerned citizen, Manognya Reddy (@manreddy), expressed their dismay, saying, “Where can people walk? A hawker’s zone needs to be created so that parking and traffic issues are resolved.”

Citizens are now urging the Malkajgiri Traffic Police, Rachakonda Police, and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to take immediate action to address the parking chaos and clear the encroachments to avoid further traffic disruptions. The situation continues to affect daily commuters, who are calling for stricter enforcement and improved infrastructure to ensure safe, congestion-free roads.
