Hyderabad Traffic police crackdown Auto drivers and school buses plying children

Hyderabad: In the last fifteen days,Hyderabad traffic police booked 8930 Auto rickshaw drivers and 390 school buses plying the school children, for violations, in a special drive conducted. Traffic officials in coordination with RTA officials conducting special drive against vehicles plying school children in excess of the capacity and also the vehicle condition in the entire Hyderabad City.
“In order to ensure the safety of school children, the Hyderabad Traffic Police has started a special drive against vehicles carrying school children in excess of the capacity and also the vehicle condition in the entire Hyderabad City from 27, June, 2024 and the drive will continue,” said Hyderabd police in an official statement.

Hyderabad Traffic Police in coordination with RTA formed Five joint special teams for conducting the special drive in the morning and evening hours. The special focus is on the Auto Rickshaws without fitness certificates, without driving licence, drunken drive, overloading (more than 6 children of 12 years and below in 3 passenger Auto Rickshaw and 8 children in 4 passenger Auto Rickshaw), minor driving, etc. These special teams held meetings with school management and counseled the parents who are carrying extra children on their two-wheelers and explained to them about the do’s and don’ts for the security and safety of school children.
Hyderabad Traffic Police booked 1421 cases for plying school children as against the permitted children,6818 cases booked against Auto driver for not wearing uniform,691 cases booked against auto driver for driving without license. Overall 8930 cases booked against Auto rickshaw drivers.Further in the Joint Special drive against the school buses, of the 2311 school buses checked 390 buses were found violating the norms, 41 cases booked for Without Fitness Certificate.
Hyderabad Traffic Police requested all the parents not to send their children in a vehicle carrying more than the seating capacity. “Transporting children in excess of the capacity endangers the lives of children. We request the school managements and parents to check the validity of documents viz., Driving Licence of Driver, Registration Certificate, Insurance Certificate and Fitness Certificate of vehicles before engaging such vehicles for sending children to the Schools,” said Hyderbad traffic police.
