HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Traffic Police conducted a mega counselling session for drunk driving offenders at the Traffic Training Institute in Goshamahal on Monday.

Young adults most at risk, says officer

Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) D Joel Davis addressed around 600 violators and their family members, warning them about the dangers of driving under the influence. He said most victims of fatal road crashes are aged between 20 and 35 years, causing irreversible loss to families.

Davis explained how alcohol impairs the central nervous system, affects the retina, and slows motor control. He cited real-life cases of families who lost their breadwinners in drunk driving accidents.

Families urged to discourage risky driving

The officer highlighted the financial, psychological and social consequences of such accidents. He urged citizens to opt for ride-sharing services or public transport after consuming alcohol.
