Hyderabad Traffic Police book 305 drunk drivers in special drive

Hyderabad: Hyderabad Traffic Police conducted a two-day special drive against drunken driving on January 16 and 17 to ensure road safety. During the operation, police booked 305 drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Of those caught, 242 were two-wheeler riders, 26 were driving three-wheelers, and 37 were driving four-wheelers and other vehicles, police said.
BAC levels recorded during checks
Police said 65 cases involved blood alcohol content (BAC) levels between 30 and 50, while 134 cases fell in the 51–100 range. Another 39 drivers recorded BAC levels between 101 and 150, and 35 cases were in the 151–200 category.
BAC levels between 201 and 250 were found in 11 cases, 8 drivers recorded levels between 251 and 300, while 13 drivers were found with BAC levels above 300, police added.
Drive to continue
Traffic police said there would be zero tolerance towards drunken driving violations and that such special drives would continue in the coming days. Commuters were urged to cooperate with Hyderabad Traffic Police in the interest of public safety.
The press note was issued by the Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Hyderabad, with a request to print and electronic media to give wide publicity in the interest of road safety.
