Hyderabad traffic diverted for Sankranti rush

Hydrerabad: With a surge in post-Sankranti travel from Andhra Pradesh to Hyderabad, Nalgonda district police have announced special traffic diversions to prevent congestion and ensure smooth movement, Superintendent of Police Sharath Chandra Pawar said in a statement.
The diversions are necessitated by ongoing flyover construction at Chityala and Pedda Kaparthy on National Highway 65 (Hyderabad–Vijayawada), where traffic congestion is expected as a large number of vehicles return to the city after the festival.
Police advised vehicles travelling from Guntur to Hyderabad to proceed via Miryalaguda, Haliya, Kondamallepally, Chintapally and Mall. Vehicles from Macherla have been asked to take the route through Nagarjuna Sagar, Peddavoora, Kondapallepally, Chintapally and Mall to reach Hyderabad. Commuters travelling from Nalgonda towards Hyderabad should use the Marriguda bypass, Munugode and Narayanapur before joining NH-65 at Choutuppal. Heavy vehicles coming from Vijayawada have been diverted via Kodad, Huzurnagar, Miryalaguda, Haliya, Chintapally and Mall. In case of traffic congestion on NH-65 near Chityala or Pedda Kaparthy, vehicles will be diverted from Chityala through Bhongir towards Hyderabad.
Police said the diversions would reduce pressure on NH-65 and help commuters reach their destinations faster and more safely.
The SP said the police department’s objective was to ensure the safe return of people travelling to Hyderabad after the festival. “We are implementing traffic diversions with advance planning to avoid inconvenience to the public. Commuters should follow police instructions, adhere to traffic rules and travel patiently. Road safety requires everyone’s participation,” he said.
Traffic police have been deployed at key junctions, with drone cameras and CCTV surveillance being used to monitor traffic conditions in real time. Commuters have been advised to dial 100 in case of any emergency.
