Nh 44 Elevated Corridor Works Trigger Traffic Snarls In Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Commuters faced severe inconvenience on Thursday following road closures and diversions on National Highway-44 due to the launch of elevated corridor construction works between Paradise Junction and Military Dairy Farm Road.

Traffic snarls during morning rush hours

The restrictions began around 9am, coinciding with office, school and college timings, resulting in heavy congestion. Some motorists argued with police officers over the lack of advance information. “We were not informed properly about the closures, which caused huge delays,” said a commuter.

Joint Commissioner of Traffic D Joel Davis and DCP Rahul Hegde inspected the situation on the ground.

Road closures and alternate routes

Vehicles coming from Paradise Junction towards Tadbund Crossroads must now turn left at Balamrai Rajiv Gandhi statue, go straight to Annanagar Junction, take a right, and proceed via Babu Jagjivanram Junction before turning left towards Tadbund Crossroads and Boinpalli.

The stretch from Rajiv Gandhi statue via Le Palais and Babu Jagjivanram Junction through Gymkhana Grounds to Paradise Junction is closed.

Paradise Junction And Military Dairy Farm Road Traffic Diversion

Vehicles from Balanagar and Suchitra can take Tadbund Crossroads, continue straight on Tadbund Hanuman Temple Road, turn right at Mastana Hotel Junction, proceed via Racecourse Pump House, turn left at Tivoli Theatre Junction, and reach Patny. Alternatively, motorists can move via Tadbund Crossroads, turn left at Babu Jagjivanram Junction, proceed right from Tivoli Theatre, then turn right again at Swikar Upkar Junction towards CTO Junction.

Residents of Annanagar and Balamrai heading towards Panjagutta or Tank Bund should use Meeting Point bylane, Hockey Ground and Police Lines routes. Traffic diversions are expected to remain in place for nine months as part of the elevated corridor project, officials said.
