HYDERABAD: Amid a fuel shortage triggered by the prevailing war-like situation, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has announced a 30% fare reduction on Metro AC and Metro Deluxe buses within Hyderabad.

The decision aims to ease the burden on motorists waiting for hours at petrol pumps. TGSRTC vice-chairman and managing director Y. Nagi Reddy, an Indian Police Service officer, said the move would provide affordable and comfortable travel to commuters.

He appealed to citizens, stating, “Why struggle with petrol issues when RTC buses are available?”

Time and fuel savings; relief from long queues

Nagi Reddy advised commuters not to waste time standing in long queues for petrol. He said RTC buses offer a safer and faster alternative to reach destinations instead of waiting for hours for fuel.

Fuel conservation supports economy during crisis

With fuel in short supply, every drop is valuable. He said shifting from private vehicles to public transport would help conserve fuel and support the country’s economy.

Lower pollution and smoother traffic movement

Reduced use of private vehicles will ease traffic congestion and cut pollution levels. He urged citizens to use RTC electric buses to contribute to environmental protection.

Affordable travel with added comfort for commuters

The 30% fare reduction makes AC bus travel more accessible. Commuters can avoid high petrol costs and opt for economical and comfortable travel, he said.

Nagi Reddy urged residents: “Do not queue up at petrol pumps. Board buses safely and travel comfortably.”

TGSRTC said citizens should utilise this opportunity to avoid traffic and fuel-related difficulties.
