Hyderabad braces for cold wave as IMD issues alert

HYDERABAD: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, has issued a yellow alert for several districts of Telangana, warning of an intense winter cold wave over the next few days.
The department said cold wave conditions are likely to persist, with fog or mist expected at several locations across the state until December 17.
Fog forecast, slight temperature relief before colder spell
IMD has forecast a partly cloudy sky over Hyderabad until December 17, along with early morning fog in isolated areas.
From December 16 to 18, night temperatures may see a marginal rise. However, cold conditions are expected to remain strong, the department said.
Minimum temperatures dip sharply in districts
Kumuram Bheem district recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the state on Wednesday at 8.9 degrees Celsius.
Within Hyderabad, Maredpally emerged as the coldest locality, with the minimum temperature dropping to 13 degrees Celsius.
Weather observer T Balaji has forecast a more intense cold wave between December 19 and 22, indicating a further fall in temperatures across the region.
Authorities have advised residents to plan travel carefully, particularly during early morning hours, due to reduced visibility caused by fog.
