Hyderabad techie blackmailed over explicit videos; Accused arrested in Guntur

Hyderabad: The Nidadavole police have arrested N. Devnayak, also known as Madhu Sai Kumar, for blackmailing a young woman, who was staying in a hostel in Kukatpally, Hyderabad, with explicit videos and extorting over ₹2.53 crore from her.
Devnayak, along with his wife, Anusha Devi, had been threatening the woman with explicit videos, demanding money to prevent them from being posted online.
The victim, a software professional from East Godavari district, had been staying in a private hostel in Kukatpally, Hyderabad, where she met Anusha Devi, a childhood friend. Anusha introduced her husband, Devnayak, to the woman as her spouse.
Following Devnayak’s plan, the accused made phone calls to the victim using a voice changer, threatening to upload her nude videos online unless she paid him. He later claimed to have resolved the issue through external help and continued to extort money from the woman multiple times.
Devnayak’s threats escalated when the victim refused to pay further amounts. Over a while, he extorted a total of ₹2.53 crore from her, which he used to purchase various properties.
The woman eventually filed a complaint with the Nidadavolu police, leading to Devnayak’s arrest on February 2, 2025, in Guntur district. Police also seized assets worth ₹1.81 crore from him.
Anusha Devi has absconded, and Devnayak has been transferred to Rajahmundry Central Jail after being remanded by the court.
